Carrefour has launched the first recyclable and biodegradable tray on the market for its fish products. The new packaging is the first of its kind to be used in the Spanish retail sector and can be found in the fish and seafood section at all the chain’s establishments. The use of this tray is part of the company’s commitment to sustainability and its overall strategy to lead the way in the food transition process.

The launch took place at the execution of an agreement Carrefour has entered into with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA by its acronym in Spanish) to boost blue growth, identify new opportunities for development and promote the consumption of fishing products in the commercial sector. The agreement was signed by Alberto López and José Luis González Serrano on behalf of the MAPA General Secretariat of Fisheries; Eric Uzan, the managing director of Carrefour Spain, and Jorge Ybarra, the retailer´s food sales director.
